Modular Home Myth

There are many modular home myths, maybe you've heard some of them

Here's one that's not a myth - Modular homes are the future! They are quality built and cost effective. Generally those two words are not synonymous. That just isn't the case though when it comes to modular homes. Lets take a look at some of those myths.

Modular Home Myth 1: Modular homes are expensive.

Modular Home Myth 2: Modular homes cost a lot to insure.

Modular Home Myth 3: Modular homes are inferior to site-built homes.

Modular Home Myth 4: Modular homes take longer to build than site built homes.

Modular Home Myth 5: Modular homes are lower quality that site built homes.

Modular Home Myth 6: Modular cannot be customized.

Fortunately, modular homes do not exhibit any of these misconceptions. While it is true that modular designs were fairly basic, plain and blah back in their infancy. Today's computer technology and consumer demand has made these homes virtually indistinguishable from traditional site built homes.

Today's, modular homes are constructed in sections or modules in a controlled factory environment. Modular homes are 80% to 95% built in factories and then transported to a foundation, set in place and assembled.

To dispel some of these myths about modular homes, do a little basic research. First, modular homes are less expensive on average than site built homes. A modular homes cost per square foot to construct is generally 10% - 30% less expensive than a comparable site-built home. Secondly, unlike manufactured homes, a modular home's insurance costs are the same as that of site built homes.

In addition, site built homes are not superior to modular homes for the simple fact that modular homes are more closely supervised and built in a factory-controlled environment which improves the structural quality and the integrity of modular homes.

Site built homes are subject to weather exposure which can lead to future water damage problems, such as warping and mold issues. Modular homes are often structurally stronger than traditional site built homes due to the fact additional framing and structural support is built into the module designs so they can withstand transportation to the job site. Regarding general wear and tear matters, just like any other home, modular homes are subject to weather damage, broken windows, and anything else a normal home would experience.

Site built homes can take up to 4 to 6 months to complete, depending on weather, and how long it takes to break ground and pour a foundation. Modular homes take 1 to 2 months from the time you place the order, delivery.

Last but not least, modular homes can be customized to your preferences. It can be customized to exactly what you want and that is no myth.
