Modular Home Floor Plan Considerations

A modular home floor plan can include huge living rooms, dining rooms, fully equipped kitchens with built in stainless steel appliances, huge master suites with retreat areas and walk in closets, sunken family rooms, and utility areas large enough for even the biggest freezer. Master suite bathrooms can include garden tubs, fireplaces and even a space in the built-in cabinets for a large television! You can get just about anything your looking for. If you can think of it, chances are 'They will build it for you!'

Depending on the size of your home site, you can choose a single-section or larger multi-section designs. Floor plans range in size from 900 to over 6,000 square feet and can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Home sections can reach up to 80 feet in length - this would require a pretty wide lot. A modular home floor plan can be designed any way you want it - one story or two story.

You can download and print a modular home floor plan directly from our  Modular Home Builder listing page. We have listed over 100 modular home manufacturers. We found that they were pretty hard to find and then remember where we found them, so we put them all on one page to make your shopping much easier than ours. In most cases you will need a PDF file reader to open these files. If you don't have one, you can download a free PDF file reader  here. We download them and print them. Then we can decide which models we want to look at. You will be amazed at what you will find, I know we were. You save a lot of time by doing this ahead of time.

Food for thought - You will need to decide whether your home will be on a basement or a crawl space. Your furnace location is contingent on whether you have a basement or not. If you decide on a basement, that's probably where you will want it installed. Another important part of the planning is Steps! No basement - No steps.

There are several other helpful pages that you may want to check out. Two in particular are  Manufactured Home Construction and  Manufactured Home Prices - at the bottom of this page, you can download a free home shopping checklist. The checklist will help you to learn what to look for.

One note of caution though, manufacturer's and specific brands are regional. It can get a bit confusing, so when you find a floor plan that you like, make sure the manufacturer covers your area.

Happy Shopping!
