Manufactured Home Inspection Is a Must! Do You Know What To Look For?
Manufactured Home Inspection
When you take possession of your new manufactured home, the first thing to do is to check it over thoroughly.
Make sure that everything you ordered is accounted for. (Get out your upgrade sheet that you ordered) Upgrades can
sometimes be overlooked.
It is important to discover problems early and report them to the dealer within the warranty's time limits. Make
certain that your concerns are in writing and dated. Make three copies, one for your dealer, one for the
manufacturer and a copy for your files. When presenting it to the dealer, ask them to sign and date it, confirming
the date that they received it. This will protect you down the road if your concerns are not handled in a timely
manor.

Finish Your Home Inspection!
First, check to see that your home was installed properly. Open and close all interior and exterior doors. If a
door does not open and close smoothly, it may indicate a need for hinge adjustment, it could also be a sign that
the home is not level. Open and close all windows. Make sure that they all function properly. Examine the entire
house. Look at the walls, the floors, and the ceilings. If Your home is sectional, pay especially close attention
to the 'marriage' walls, floor covering and ceilings along the marriage point. Be certain that all faucets and
appliances work. Weather permitting, check the heating and cooling as well.
Manufactured Home Inspection Tip
Take your time - Don't rush through it! - Start by inspecting the outside of your home, then inspect the
interior, carefully going through each room. Many manufacturers provide a checklist in the owner's manual of items
you should inspect. You should fill out the checklist and return it to the manufacturer as soon as
possible.
Remember - take your time - your manufactured home inspection is
critical
